August is almost over and the sunshine, wine and hang on what sun?

In this issue we have all the latest major events from the social scene. The Dance Diary for all the "Tea Dances" and "Social Dances? that has been housed for the last six years on the ontalink website is now housed within the dancingdiary.info. Hopefully with more and more signing up for the newsletter to be sent hopefully we can find more venues for you all to dance.

As we get and or find the results from around the country, along with what competitions are available are added to our competitions page.

With Strictly couples being announced yesterday we confirm the couples in the column to the right.

3rd October an an Autumn Ball will be run by David Douglass and Sue Franklyn pictured right at Roman Way - Cowley - Oxford with music by Dennis Gascoyne and a demonstration by Danny Stowell & Kate Moore

10th October in Bicester. Ben Jackson will be running a heroes charity ball with dinner in Bicester on the ,more info to follow-

The Isle of Man Festival saw a fabulous weekend of dance and competitions including "Old Time Sequence dances" like the Waverley Two step, Midnight Tango, Gainsborough Glide, and one of my favourites the Lilac Waltz, along with another the Balmoral Blues.

Next week sees the Autumn dance break by Philip Wylie with competitions. Hopefully we shall have all the judges marks on the website within a few days.

September sees competitions in Dudley and Hampshire during the first full weekend of September and the following weekend - 13th - in Dorking, Bournemouth and Lydney..

I am promising not going to mention Bicester Village again... woops.. Sorry I have... smiles

4th September at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester. The evening, a very special fundraising event will be hosted by the wonderful Willie Thorne, will also feature other fun activities together with Darren Bennett & Lilia Kopylova. This s organised by Vista Blind

11th September at the Sadler's Wells in London will see an exclusive gala night of dance for the Tower Festival featuring the best of Ballet, Ballroom, Flamenco and contemporary dance. Sadler’s Wells is Dance will include amazing performances from Tamara Rojo (Ballet), Paco Pena & Company (Flamenco) while Anton Du Beke & Erin Boag.

12th September at the Trunkwell House in Reading. Ian Waite will be hosting an exciting evening featuring a three-course meal, disco hosted by Ian’s dad Alan, cabaret from top pro couple Anna & James Jordan, and most importantly, an exclusive jive master class for dancers of all standards with Ian himself!

26th September, Stephanie Warwick & Craig Jones will provide a Ballroom demonstration. whilst Natasha Jackson & Callum Sanderson will provide the Latin demonstration at the Radcliffe Civic Suite, Thomas Street, Radcliffe, Manchester, organised by Gibbns Dance

4th October at the Wandsworth Palais. Kristina Rihanoff & Brian Fortuna will be holding a beginners’ salsa class. The event starts at 2pm on Sunday 23rd August and will run till 5pm. There will be a 45-minute dance class followed by some salsa show dances by Kristina and Brian. After there will be a social dance and at the end.

16th October at the Karen Hardy Studios, London. A glamorous evening of dance hosted by Karen Hardy and including dance champions from across the globe direct from competing at the Royal Albert Hall.

The competition to be held at Winsford on 20th September 2009, has we understand has had to be cancelled.

Nigel Horrocks has kindly offered to include these three EADA competitions in the Yorkshire Open Ballroom and Latin American Dance Festival, which were due to be held at Winsford: Juvenile Ballroom, Junior Latin and
Youth Latin.

The Yorkshire Open Ballroom and Latin American Dance Festival, is to be held in Sheffield on Saturday 19th September 2009.
